The Chief of Staff Guyana Defence Force, Commodore Gary Best was the honored guest at an informal reception at the the XGDF in New York on Sunday 26th July 2009.

Over 90 members and guests packed the room for the occasion. The Ex Soldiers Association of Canada (led by their president Gordon Winter), GDF Veterans of LA (R.A. Johnson) and the XGDF Association of Georgia were represented.

The Ex Guyana Coast Guard Association, the Guyana National Service Association (led by their president D.T. Roberts), the Association of  EX President's Guard and Immigration Services APGIUSA (President  Errol Lewis) and Fort Hamilton liaison, Larry Morrish also attended.

The occasion, said President I.C. Fraser was an opportunity for the Association to get acquainted with the Commodore and vice versa. Commodore Best gave a very informative address and answered questions posed by a few members. He then presented an attractively mounted official photograph of himself to the Association.

Entertainment Committee Member, June Barrington-King warmly thanked the Commodore in closing remarks.
